Our green roof is an interdisciplinary project between 3 colleges at Texas A&M University. It is meant to be a hands-on learning experience for the students involved and any student of the university can join. We are testing products, materials and plant species for their performance in the southern portion of Texas. The roof area includes two sections of modular extensive green roof and three 10×10 green walls. Each green wall is contructed of different products and materials to compare for success. Environmental data is being monitored and recorded (wind speed and direction, air temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, precipitation, soil moisture, soil temp., soil EC, roof membrane temperature under green roof and under conventional roof).

Coming soon: website that allows users to see environmental data in real time and also “visit” the roof via live webcam.
